HISTORY OF AMANI

Amani Baby Cottage was founded by Danyne Randolph Bharj, who felt a calling to live in Africa. After volunteering in Jinja, Uganda, and with support from family and friends, the dream of a home for abandoned children became a reality

The dedicated staff, including directors, mamas, social workers, medical personnel, and guards. Work tirelessly to provide a safe and supportive home for the children. Volunteers also play a valuable role, contributing their time to play, sing, dance, and teach. Creating a supportive community that enriches the children’s lives.

Beginning in august 2003, Amani opened its doors. Expecting just a few babies, they were surprised with thirteen! Quickly they moved to a larger home with more space for the children. This new home had a great yard for a tree house and more room for everyone

As Amani continued to grow, they moved to an even bigger compound. This new space included a nursery, cottages, an office, a kitchen, volunteer quarters, storage, and even a chicken coop and gat barn. This allowed them to better care for the children and provide a loving and nurturing environment
